Renting a camper is the best way to explore Patagonia at your own pace. To help you enjoy every moment, here are some friendly tips from our team (and from fellow travelers!):
1.Be Ready for All Kinds of Weather
Patagonia is famous for having four seasons in one day — sun, wind, rain, and even snow can all show up. Pack light, but bring layers and comfy outdoor clothes so you're always prepared.
2. Fill Up the Tank Whenever You Can
Gas stations can be far apart, especially in remote areas. Don’t wait until you're low — if you see a station, stop and fill up!
3. Download Maps Before You Go
Phone signal isn’t always reliable in Patagonia. We recommend downloading Google Maps or Maps.me offline, just in case.
4. Take Care of Nature (and Each Other!)
This place is magical — let’s keep it that way. Always take your trash with you, don’t leave anything behind, and be kind to the people and animals you meet along the way.
5. Sleep Where the Road Takes You
One of the best parts of traveling by camper is the freedom to stop wherever you want. There are campsites, wild spots, and quiet places to rest all over. Use apps like iOverlander to find great spots (with tips from other travelers, too!).
6. Carry Some Cash, Just in Case
In most bigger towns and cities, you can pay with a credit or debit card with no problem. But in remote areas — especially near national parks or small villages — cards are sometimes not accepted. It’s a good idea to have some Chilean pesos with you, just in case.
